Athletics is a major offering at St. Peter’s, one that can occupy your child virtually from the first day of school to the last. Our school’s mission statement tells us that we are attempting to help our children grow in five ways: spiritually, emotionally, academically, socially, and physically. Our athletic program is an extension of that program. As a member of the Lutheran School Athletic Association, St. Peter’s offers a wide variety of athletics on several levels. There are 18 schools in the LSAA located throughout Allen, Adams, and Noble Counties. Interscholastic competition is offered at two levels: the 5th & 6th grade division, often referred to as the junior varsity or reserve team, and the 7th & 8th grade division, the varsity level. There is a small fee for each sport to cover uniforms and referees.

Please note that a completed physical form must be handed in to the school office before a student may begin to practice. Your student must also achieve and maintain academic standards.

After the last spring sport has ended, all athletes are recognized for their participation in athletics during the past year at a ceremony held in our gym and cafeteria. Families are asked to bring a dessert to share. Drinks and table service are provided. Each athlete is presented with a certificate that indicates the sport(s) he participated in during the year. Following the presentation of awards everyone is invited to share the desserts and enjoy the fellowship. There are special awards for 8th graders; each athlete who has participated in a particular sport all the years it was offered, receives a small trophy. In addition the ‘All-Sport’ award is given to those 8th graders who were in all the sports every year. These athletes are recognized last and receive a large trophy. The evening concludes with a slide show as a year in review.
